The golden stain of time
MA graduate project, 2020
Manchester Metropolitan University in collaboration with CIRTex
Ceramic objects wrapped in textile which disintegrated in the kiln resemble textile fossils. The textile serves as a mold; the fabric supports the plastic material, providing it with temporary strength until it disappears. The firing process inverts the power relations between the materials; as the textile burns, the ceramic material hardens and grows stronger and its form is fixed.
